Happy Hour + Warm Weather + Great Food= Arterra

Arterra's Outdoor Lounge

With the weather warming up, I’m always looking for a new spot to enjoy the warm breezes and authentic San Diego ambiance. I found just that when I recently visited the Arterra Restaurant, Bar and Outdoor Lounge at the Marriott Del Mar. The hotel, just a mile from the beautiful waves of Del Mar, recently unveiled a new look, taste and vibe for its restaurant.

Arterra specializes in contemporary, seasonal cuisine reflecting the best of Southern California. Its menu is varied and always created from fresh, local and organic ingredients. After a long day at the beach, we stopped in for Happy Hour. Their Happy Hour runs every day from 4:00 – 7:00 pm. The first item I tried was the Lobster Mac n’ Cheese. I have to say I consider myself to be a mac n’ cheese aficiando and this one lived up to my high expectations. From Loaded Fries to Flatbread pizzas, their happy hour menu is varied and delicious. All drinks are $6 for premium drafts, $7 glasses of wine and specialty cocktails go for $8. Their outdoor lounge has quaint seating options to enjoy the food and drinks and be happy you are in San Diego.

About Suzzanne

I love to buy books, but seldom actually finish one. I like african violets, my iPhone, and everything that smells like lavender.  I am seriously adverse to the cold and am known to bring a sweatshirt to the beach in the summer.  I have two kids – a boy whose 10 and a girl 12.

What would you do on your ideal San Diego Day?

It would start by having breakfast somewhere near the ocean – either Pannikin in Encinitas or Beach Grass Café in Solana Beach.  Then we would head to the beach hang out for a few hours, head home and then catch a concert in the park in Balboa Park.

What is your favorite San Diego outdoor activity?

We love riding our bikes around town.  There are great places to ride in San Diego that kids can handle – Coronado Island, Point Loma or the boardwalk in Pacific Beach are just a few.

Do you prefer burgers and beer or linguine and red wine?

Depends on the day, a good burger and craft brew can really hit the spot, but I would probably end up ordering linguine and white wine.

Latest music purchases for my iPod player are…

Snow Patrol, O.A.R., Mike Moran, Eric Hutchinson
