Flicks on the Bricks – Cinema Paradiso

Enjoy a night under the stars on the Athenaeum’s outdoor patio with a screening of classic cinema al fresco. The film will be paired with vino Italiano selected by Barbara Baxter.

Cinema Paradiso (1989) – A young boy is mesmerized by a movie theater and strikes up a dynamic friendship with its warm-hearted projectionist. The film takes place after World War II in a small rural town, where the story follows the pair’s bittersweet relationship. In Italian with English subtitles.

Join aquarium naturalists and visit leopard sharks in their underwater home off the La Jolla coast. Pick up snorkel tips as you discover the abundant variety of animals that live among the kelp, sandy bottom, and rocks. Intermediate swimming ability is required and previous snorkeling experience is recommended. Participants must supply their own gear. Ages 10 + (minors must also be accompanied by a paid adult). Though sitting outside with a good book on a sunny day would come in close second.Do you prefer burgers and beer or linguine and red wine?Nothing could be better than a San Diego Craft Beer (Hess, Stone, Ballast Point, Automatic, and many many more) and a burger with onion rings and BBQ-sauce.
