On Monday, we’ll all take a moment to remember Martin Luther King Jr.’s dream and, throughout the weekend, we’ll celebrate the visionary civil rights leader with:
- The 30th Annual Martin Luther King Day Parade begins at 10 a.m. on Saturday, Jan. 16, and winds its way through downtown’s East Village with dazzling floats, soulful high school bands, dynamic drill teams and representatives from colleges, fraternities, churches, peace and youth groups from San Diego and beyond.
- The 12th Annual San Diego Multicultural Festival will take place from 11 a.m. to 5 p.m. on Saturday, Jan. 16 along downtown’s Martin Luther King Jr. Promenade with dancers, music, storytelling and food from around the globe. Fun and free for the whole family.
- On Monday, Jan. 19, the WorldBeat Center in Balboa Park will host the 21st Annual Martin Luther King Day festival. The free event begins at 11 a.m. and will include live performances by the Ugandan Children’s Choir, Chuck Fenton and Pato Banton.
- The New Children’s Museum will be celebrating with a MLK Weekend Extravaganza Jan. 16-19 featuring an eclectic line-up of inspiring art projects and fun activities.
