New Year’s Eve at the San Diego Marriott Gaslamp Quarter

Spending New Year’s Eve in San Diego is great way to ring in the New Year. One sure hot spot every year is the Gaslamp District. With over 35 pubs and nightclubs, 100 restaurants and over 20 hotels, visitors will find something that suits their party style. One celebration that is sure to create an evening to remember is the San Diego Marriott Gaslamp Quarter’s Bottom’s Up party.

Guests start their evening at the Marriott Gaslamp’s street-level Soleil @k and Latitude Lounge. Party revelers will sample a whole new standard of cuisine with assorted fresh greens, decadent raw seafood bar, street taco stand and artisan flatbreads. There will also be happy hour specials from 8 p.m. to 10 p.m. Then guests head up 22 stories in the sky to their rooftop bar, ALTITUDE Sky Lounge. If you didn’t get your fill at the bottom, guests will find a sushi bar, carving stations, assorted desserts and a chocolate fountain. Once your palate is satiated, guests can dance the night away with beats by DJ Rooster and DJ Ramsey as they count down to 2011. There will be a celebratory midnight toast on the 1st and 22nd floors with party favors. (Did I mention this is an evening to remember?) For only $125 per person, this celebration is sure to please. Ticket sales are limited and go fast!

About Suzzanne

I love to buy books, but seldom actually finish one. I like african violets, my iPhone, and everything that smells like lavender.  I am seriously adverse to the cold and am known to bring a sweatshirt to the beach in the summer.  I have two kids – a boy whose 10 and a girl 12.

What would you do on your ideal San Diego Day?

It would start by having breakfast somewhere near the ocean – either Pannikin in Encinitas or Beach Grass Café in Solana Beach.  Then we would head to the beach hang out for a few hours, head home and then catch a concert in the park in Balboa Park.

What is your favorite San Diego outdoor activity?

We love riding our bikes around town.  There are great places to ride in San Diego that kids can handle – Coronado Island, Point Loma or the boardwalk in Pacific Beach are just a few.

Do you prefer burgers and beer or linguine and red wine?

Depends on the day, a good burger and craft brew can really hit the spot, but I would probably end up ordering linguine and white wine.

Latest music purchases for my iPod player are…

Snow Patrol, O.A.R., Mike Moran, Eric Hutchinson

  9. We’re coming all the way to San Diego from southwest Nebraska to ring in the New Year and simultaneously celebrate our wonderful folks’ 40th wedding anniversary! Would LOVE to be able to treat Mom & Dad to a fun night out while we’re there – there’s not much nightlife (or sushi for that matter) where we live! 🙂 We’ve heard great things about the Gaslamp District, but have yet to experience it!

  10. We are celebrating our 40th wedding anniversary in San Diego! (A gift from our kids and grand kids.) We would be thrilled to win this night out!!

  11. The Gaslamp District sounds like the home of the most energetic and upscale nightclubs for the San Diego area. They obviously know how to party. It is too bad that more cities cannot garner that kind of excitement!
But then I have long been a fan of southern California. I will shout ‘Happy New Year’ for all of those of you who actually make it to the Bottoms Up Celebration!
    Have a great New Year!

Bottoms up, bottoms up, throw your hands up! Tell security we ’bout to tear this club up!!
