It’s time to ooh and aah. The San Diego Zoo has been very busy welcoming some new additions recently. Next time you are at the Zoo or Safari Park, stop by and say hi.
Not exactly the splashiest of arrivals on New Year’s day, but we welcome it just the same. The Zoo’s newest addition of 2011, was a satanic leaf-tailed gecko, born on January 1, 2011.
Meet Wǔshí (pronounced “woo-shee”), a 2 week-old baby takin. His name means “fifty” in Mandarin Chinese because he’s the 50th takin born to the San Diego Zoo.
I think baby elephants are seriously the cutest thing. Born in the early hours on December 27, 2010, the little guy (name has not been announced yet), was walking around within hours.
Two Sumatran Tiger Cubs Joanne and Majel were born in October 2010. They are already over 20 pounds and have full weaponry (teeth and claws).
