Fashion Week Returns to San Diego

New York, Paris, Milan and…San Diego? Yes, you can add this beach town to the list of top fashion destinations thanks to some up-and-coming designers, hip boutiques sprouting up across neighborhoods and the return of Fashion Week San Diego.

Designers Jessica Faulkner, Stacie May and Andre Soriano are just a few of the locals showcasing their talent at Fashion Week San Diego 2012.

Launched in 2008, Fashion Week San Diego celebrates San Diego style with a bevy of events ranging from runway shows to trunk shows and mixers with designers. Don’t miss these events that are sure to prove that there’s much more to San Diego’s style than flip-flops and board shorts:

The Art & Beauty Behind Fashion

Wednesday, October 3, 2012
This chic event at the newly remodeled W Hotel in downtown San Diego will feature commissioned original artworks inspired by San Diego’s style, complimentary desserts and the premier screening of a mini-documentary about Fashion Week San Diego.

Fashion Week San Diego Runways Show & After Party

Saturday, October 6, 2012
Held at the Hard Rock Hotel, this event offers more than just a chance to see the fabulous collections from featured designers. Guests can live out their Project Runway judging fantasies by voting for their favorite designer of the evening. The audience will be able to score designers’ creations on wearability, creativity, and overall production. The designer with the highest score will be awarded a business package to help launch their line.

Erin Fader’s jewelry designs will be highlighted during Fashion Week San Diego.

Fashion Week San Diego Trunk Show

Sunday, October 7, 2012
If the runway show got you inspired to update your own wardrobe, the trunk show offers a chance to view and purchase the designs you just saw on the runway the previous night. In addition to the Fashion Week San Diego designers, other local boutiques, designers and beauty companies will offer plenty of stylish shopping opportunities.

About Candice

Foodie, craft beer nerd, shopaholic, music geek, photographer and contemporary art fan could all be used to describe me. I’m a big proponent of highlighting San Diego’s hidden gems and local businesses and breaking stereotypes about our city. We’re more than just sunshine and beaches (though those are nice, too!). What would you do on your ideal San Diego Day? Eating and shopping around my favorite neighborhoods: Golden Hill, South Park, North Park, Little Italy and Hillcrest. Then popping into one of our great art museums and capping off the night with some live music and a a local beer at The Casbah. What is your favorite San Diego outdoor activity? Does shopping count as an outdoor activity? Or checking out the public art around town, like at Chicano Park? I do love visiting the La Jolla tide pools in the summer and ice skating at the outdoor rinks that go up each winter. Do you prefer burgers and beer or linguine and red wine? Let's get one thing straight here: San Diego craft beer goes with everything, not just burgers. Though it is really good with a burger. Latest music purchases for my iPod player are… I’m lucky to be married to a music journalist, so advance copies of the newest albums are constantly available to me for free. But I can’t seem to stop playing the new album by CHVRCHES, and San Diego band Rocket from the Crypt have been on repeat a lot lately.
