Gauguin to Warhol: 20th Century Icons from the Albright-Knox Art Gallery
This new art exhibit at the San Diego Museum of Art and features some of the biggest names in modern art like Andy Warhol, Jackson Pollock, Pablo Picasso, Vincent van Gogh and Frida Kahlo, to name a few. Gauguin to Warhol: 20th Century Icons from the Albright-Knox Art Gallery presents a stunning opportunity to witness the development of the major movements that shaped the course of modern art from the 19th century to the present.

Colores de la Muerte
Explore the rich history of Mexico and celebrate Dia de los Muertos at the California Center for the Arts, Escondido with Colores de la Muerte. Amble through history with Tren de la Historia, a series of train car sculptures that recount the turning points of the Mexican Revolution along with 36 mixed media sculptures from the Mingei International Museum and an altar installation honoring the Mexican author, Octavio Paz. Chronicling Mexico’s history from early days of revolution to modern day independence this exhibition gives insight into the role of women, political life and Mexico’s perilous fight for independence.

The Discovery of King Tut
During Balboa Park’s 2015 Centennial Celebration the San Diego Natural History Museum will host the West Coast debut of the blockbuster exhibition, The Discovery of King Tut. The exhibition recreates the moment of Howard Carter’s remarkable finding of the lost tomb of Tutankhamun. Visitors will be able to experience the splendor of 18th dynasty Egyptian history though more than 1,000 reproductions of the treasures discovered in the tomb.

Collective Restraint: Four Decades of Czech Photography and New Visions: Art & Invention in the 19th Century
From now through February 2015, The Museum of Photographic Arts will showcase two new photo exhibitions. Collective Restraint: Four Decades of Czech Photography will present photographs that reflect the political and social climate that challenged and shaped Czechoslovakia’s rich history and influenced artists during the 1930s through 1960s, while New Visions: Art & Invention in the 19th Century will display how pioneering photographer brought the world to people with images that reflect the faces and architecture of Europe, Egypt and the Holy lands and the American West

Rita McBride: Public Tilt and This is How We Walk on the Moon: Colter Jacobsen
The Museum of Contemporary Art San Diego will open two new exhibitions this fall featuring two distinct, singular voices. Rita McBride: Public Tilt and This is How We Walk on the Moon: Colter Jacobsen opened simultaneously at MCASD Downtown. Rita McBride’s exhibition comprises three major installation pieces that will fill the Foster, Farrell, and Strauss galleries. San Francisco-based artist Colter Jacobsen’s practice explores the workings of time and memory through intimate drawings and assemblages.

Monsters!
Find out what’s hiding under the bed! The San Diego Museum of Man will feature beasts familiar and strange, real and imagined, kind-hearted and troublesome, from across the span of human history and culture. For this exhibition, the museum reached into its vast collections to bring out unusual monster artifacts you can see and touch.
