Borrego Springs and the Anza-Borrego desert have provided strange, stark and amazing locations for nearly a century of films and filmmakers. The 2016 Borrego Springs Film Festival will showcase Narrative, Documentary, Animation, and Latino features and shorts along with networking events and parties at various local resorts throughout the weekend.

Coronado Island Film Festival
Count on four jam-packed days of fun, including the latest in filmmaking excellence from filmmakers of every level of their craft, from emerging newcomers to seasoned pros. In addition to a dazzling lineup of festival parties and lively panel discussions with industry veterans such as our Honorary Jury President Leonard Maltin, actor/author Chris Lemmon, son of Jack, will give two live performances of his hit one-man musical show, A Twist of Lemmon, in the role of his father. We’re also planning a special salute to honor the extraordinary life of Dr. Martin Luther King, Jr. on his namesake holiday weekend.

San Diego Multi-Cultural Festival
The Festival will showcase San Diego’s rich cultural diversity and traditional heritage through live music, dance performances, storytelling, children’s activities (drum circles, face painting and crafts), and a wide range of ethnic vendors. The Festival will include a variety of multi-cultural entertainment from Native American, Asian, Cajun, Latin, Jazz and Afro-Cuban bands.

Monster Energy AMA Supercross
Monster Energy AMA Supercross, an FIM World Championship, is the world’s premier stadium motorcycle circuit, composed of 17 races of heart-stopping racing action. San Diego Restaurant Week
For eight scrumptious days, foodies will be able to eat their hearts out at an ever-growing list of participating restaurants featuring unbelievable price options for both lunch and dinner! Diners can enjoy three-course prix-fixe dinner menus for just $20, $30, $40 or $50 per person OR two-course prix-fixe lunch menus for only $10, $15 or $20 per person. Tickets and passes aren’t necessary to enjoy these eight days of dining; but reservations are recommended.

Old Town’s Blessing of the Animals
A Blessing of the Animals event has been happening in Old Town for more than 300 years. The event in the central plaza of Old Town San Diego State Historic Park will include adoption opportunities from various rescue groups and educational information on rescuing, rehabilitation and supporting the animals in your area. A pet costume contest will take place at 2:30 PM featuring prizes for several categories including best dressed and best pet-owner look-alike.

36th Annual Martin Luther King Jr. Day Parade
Join Zeta Sigma Lambda Chapter of Alpha Phi Alpha Fraternity for the 36th Annual Martin Luther King Jr. Parade. This is one of the largest celebrations of its kind in honor of Dr. Martin Luther King Jr. in the United States. Their parade is filled with dazzling floats, soulful High School Bands, Drill Teams, Colleges, Fraternities, Churches, Organizations, Peace and Youth groups.
