Del Mar Racing Season

San Diego horse racing takes place where the “turf meets the surf” at the Del Mar Racetrack. Fans flock to the track each summer to wager on their favorite horses during the popular, annual Del Mar Thoroughbred Club racing season, mid-July – early-September. Be part of the magic and nostalgia of this long-time horse race tradition dating back to 1937 when Bing Crosby greeted the first guests, and Seabiscuit won by a nose in the infamous race in 1938. This season features the nation’s top race horses, trainers and jockeys, and plenty of fun in the sun.
Comic-Con International: San Diego
When: July 19-22, 2018

Comic-Con International is the largest comics and pop culture event in the United States, attracting thousands of artists, celebrities and fans of comic books, movie memorabilia and all things related to pop culture.

We’ve been proud beer geeks since 1996, so it’s only natural for us to celebrate when our hometown becomes the center of the nerd universe during San Diego Comic Con. Join us at Stone Brewing World Bistro & Gardens – Liberty Station on July 19 for Hop-Con 6.0! This year’s celebration will be on Thursday night for the first time and have a few extra surprises in store.
Insect and the Ladybug Festival
When: July 21-22, 2018
Where: San Diego Botanic Garden – 230 Quail Gardens Dr, Encinitas, CA 92024
This one-of-a-kind event features thousands of fascinating creepy-crawlies including live insects, lizards, snakes, and the famous “Madagascar hissing cockroaches.” Children can practice bug collecting, hands-on insect arts and crafts, and even taste cooked mealworm larva (in various flavors such as mesquite, teriyaki, and barbeque!). Entomologists and other bug experts will be available for questions and more than 20 informational booths will teach and entertain children and adults alike.
South Park Summer Walkabout
When: July 21, 2018
Where: Beech St & 30th St, San Diego, CA 92102
The South Park Walkabout is a quarterly fun-filled evening festival that showcases all the unique and independent businesses within South Park. Enjoy complimentary treats, live entertainment and special offers. Kid-friendly, dog-friendly and free to attend! Shop, drink, eat and explore. Live music fills the streets and local businesses have special events, pop-ups or treats. Some businesses run specials for the evening and there are several kid activities going on.
