San Diego Beer Week, November 6-15, is the annual celebration of an entire year of hard work and dedication among the county’s 150+ independent craft breweries. This year, San Diego’s beer industry faced immense challenges but never wavered in producing the exceptional craft beer San Diego is known for.
Here are 7 ways to celebrate that dedication to the craft and support local breweries during San Diego Beer Week.
1. Capital of Craft IPA
Collaboration has always been at the heart of San Diego’s award-winning independent craft brewing community. This year, the San Diego Brewers Guild will release its fourth-annual collaborative beer, the 2020 Capital of Craft IPA. This limited-edition release will be available in San Diego beginning on November 5th.
The 7% West Coast-style IPA was brewed at Burgeon Beer Company. It has notes of tropical and citrusy fruit-forward aromas and flavors with an impeccably clean finish. This year’s recipe was collectively developed by eight local breweries: Chula Vista Brewery, Modern Times Beer, Resident Brewing Co., Automatic Brewing Co., South Park Brewing Co., Northern Pine Brewing and Five Suits Brewing Co., plus Burgeon Beer Co., who led and hosted both the brew and canning days.
2. San Diego Beer Week Kick Off Toast
San Diegans know the positive power of a cold one. Join the San Diego beer community either virtually (with the hashtags #sdbeer #sdbw2020 #capitalofcraft) or in-person at local breweries on Friday, November 6 at 7:00 PM to start the celebration. More than ever, everyone deserves a ‘cheers’ to getting through this year and celebrating yet another year as the Capital of Craft. At home or at a brewery, the party continues!
3. Hops + Harvest Dinner
The annual Guild Fest will be replaced this year by a livestream concert in partnership with The Casbah and a virtual Hops + Harvest dinner. The event includes eats from MIHO paired the epic Capital of Craft IPA collaboration brew available for pickup or delivery, along with live tunes from Low Volts and Jonny Wagon and the Tennessee Sons for you to enjoy from the comfort and safety of your own home.
4. Beer Week Events
Even though Beer Week will look a bit different than years past, you can still enjoy the celebration. Join the fun at virtual and safely curated in-person events held throughout San Diego County at or by participating breweries, bars, restaurants and, of course, at home.
5. Celebrate in Person with Patio Seating
San Diego is the perfect place to drink a pint outdoors, with nearly perfect temperatures and 270 days of clear skies throughout the year, including well into November! As one of the world’s top craft beer destinations, San Diego offers a myriad of outdoor tasting rooms with charming and spacious open-air settings.
6. Beer Delivered
For those in California, celebrate San Diego Beer Week with award-winning craft beer delivered to your front door. When in San Diego, breweries can deliver six-pack, or you can opt for curbside or to-go pickup.
7. Save on a San Diego Beer Week Stay
Since Beer Week is ten days long, book a midweek stay for a lower rate. During the day, enjoy reliable WiFi so you’ll never miss a beat. Take part in fun activities close by when you need a break. And relax in a quiet space for you and your family to work or study. After work, switch to vacation mode without all the crowds and enjoy tons of outdoor brewery patios and Beer Week events.
