This weekend, my son heard (from a mystery source he will not divulge) that the San Diego Model Railroad Museum had installed the Lego train display. The San Diego Model Railroad Museum is a great little museum in Balboa Park. Admission is free for children under 15 and only $7 for adults. We usually make it down there several times a year, but for only a short time is the Lego display out. Therefore, this is a big deal. We were going to see this whether I wanted to or not.
It is actually really fun to see and discover how creative the display is. The exhibit is sponsored by the Southern California LEGO Train Club and runs through mid-January 2011. There are several trains running through the town, farms, water and back around. They also have a “Can You Find Them All” sign of about ten different items throughout the display. Visitors can look for a cat burglar, a plumber and a mud fight.
The fun part is looking at the detail that goes into the display. The farms are growing crops, there are people playing cards, using their cell phones and even Batman is looking over the fair city to make sure it is safe.
If you are in Balboa Park in the next couple of weeks, be sure to stop by. It’s a great museum for anyone who enjoys trains! It has several train displays of Southern California railroads. On my last blog a visitor asked if they still had the display of a family who comes home only to find a shark is in their pool. Yep, it’s still there!
