Mark your calendars now, because one of golf’s biggest events of the year, the Farmers Insurance Open, returns to San Diego in 2014. San Diego’s leg of the annual PGA TOUR will take place Jan. 23-26, 2014, at the iconic Torrey Pines Golf Course, where Tiger Woods will attempt to reclaim his title.
Jetpacks! Fly Like James Bond over Mission Bay with Jetpack America
When thinking of James Bond, I think of sophistication, gadgets, fast cars, exotic and tropical locations, and the jetpack opening from Thunderball. While I may never have an exploding pen, be able to afford an Aston Martin DB5 or have the constant need to wear a suit (my San Diego wardrobe usually consists of flip-flops!), I was able to fly like James Bond with a water-powered jetpack flight over Mission Bay from Jetpack America.

In San Diego, there are a few sports everyone should try. Surfing is one, and after living in San Diego for many years, I finally tried getting up on a board last year. Golf is another – after all, San Diego is home to more than 90 golf courses. When Maderas Golf Club was recently named one of the top 100 best public courses in the U.S. by GolfDigest, I knew it was time to give it a shot…even if my shot ended up in the sand.
