From relaxed surfer towns like Ocean Beach to the family friendly beaches of Mission Bay and the luxurious shores of La Jolla, San Diego has the perfect seaside destination for everyone. Each of San Diego’s beach towns has a different personality that reflects the city’s diversity. When friends and family visit from out of town and ask me what beaches I recommend, it is always hard to pick just one since I think they should explore all of them to really get a feel for the city. This would give me an opportunity to be a tourist in my own city and experience it so I could recommend it to friends and family.

“Props” for Hops: San Diego’s Sensational Session IPA Craze

San Diego is world famous for the quality of its craft beer, and also the creativity and innovation of its brewers. Of all the styles of beer the county produces, it is probably most famous for the creation and development of the “West Coast” or “San Diego Style” IPA, which is – above all other things – a super-fresh, super-hoppy, full-bodied beer that makes most other American IPAs seem like Pilsners or Kolschs. This “no excuses” style of IPA has become one of the hallmarks of San Diego brewing, but it has also presented one downside: The bigger beers tend to also be higher in alcohol and, thus, limiting in the amount that can be responsibly consumed.

Friday Night Liberty Invites You To Explore the Historic Liberty Station

San Diego’s Liberty Station, on the site of Point Loma’s former Naval Training Center, is a thriving, continually reviving, slice of San Diego history – and one of the best ways to explore the neighborhood it is by attending Friday Night Liberty, beginning at 5:00 PM on the first Friday of each month.

It’s an opportunity to visit galleries and performance venues for free and meet artists at work in studios that have replaced barracks and classrooms where the U.S. Navy once practiced the art of turning boys into men.
