Last weekend I was invited to attend a matinee performance of “Sweeney Todd,” performed by the Cygnet Theatre. No, Johnny Depp was not featured in this version, but the amazing cast was mind-blowingly wonderful, making up for the fact that my favorite actor was not starring. For those not familiar with the story of Sweeney […]
Very Fond of Legally Blonde
Last night I took my daughter Mia, who’s almost 9, to see “Legally Blonde: The Musical” at the San Diego Civic Theatre. We painted our nails pink, got dressed up (as much as you have to in San Diego) and headed downtown. Before the show we had dinner at one of our favorite family friendly […]
Get a great deal on Cirque tickets
I took my wife last week to catch the Cirque du Soliel traveling show Kooza, and our socks were totally blown clean off. The good news is that they are still in town and just launched a new promotion. For a limited time, you can enjoy 40% off Level 1 and 2 tickets and 30% […]
Lighthearted Fun with Pump Boys and Dinettes!
As an admitted theatre fan, I am always psyched to get the chance to see another performance. That’s why I was thrilled to get the chance to see “Pump Boys and Dinettes” the other week at the Downtown theatre for Lamb’s Players Theatre. They do a fantastic job of producing fun, entertaining, musicals (my personal favorite […]
The Aliens Have Landed!
I had the pleasure of attending a sneak preview of the San Diego Air & Space Museum’s new exhibit, The Science of…Aliens, last week. Now being a self-proclaimed sci-fi lover, I was all over this invitation as soon as I got it. What would the Air & Space Museum’s take on this hotly contested topic be? […]
Show love, buy-one-get-one-free for Cirque
We here in San Diego are starting to get very excited because our inspired neighbors from the north are coming to town. Cirque du Soleil will be in San Diego from February 25th through March 28 with their show, Kooza. There will never be a better time than now to get your hands on these […]
Tweetless Teen Tours
So you are planning a vacation with your teens and want to be sure they do more than lay on the beach and text their friends back home. Consider an arts and culture tour designed with them in mind. Most all San Diego arts organizations have special programs designed for ages 11-17. To make it […]
Fall Back in Time This Weekend
Halloween may be on Saturday, but that won’t stop the Gaslamp Quarter from “dressing up” in period costume the next day, Sunday, November 1, during the 9th annual Fall Back Festival.
The Cirque is coming to town
Every two years San Diego gets a little more exciting as the creative wizards from Cirque du Soleil set up the Gran Chapiteau (French for Big Top) at the Del Mar Fairgrounds. In 2010 they are bringing the traveling show Kooza from February 25 to March 14. Click Here to get your tickets before they […]
Big Weekend: Fair vs. Festival
There are two huge, 2-day events that I look forward to each year: Adams Avenue Street Fair and the Pacific Islander Festival — both taking place September 26 and 27. Unfortunately, without the wits and resources of a Brady, there’s no way for me to enjoy both days of programming.
