The San Diego County Fair opens on Friday June 12th and runs through through July 5th. I’ve been going to the fair since I was a kid, but now that I’m a little older there are two things that get me out to the Del Mar Fairgrounds: food & concerts. This year the fair has […]
Father’s Day With a Beluga Whale
Father’s Day is coming up. Are you looking for an unforgettable gift idea? If you’re heading to San Diego, consider SeaWorld‘s Wild Arctic Interaction. This amazing experience begins with a behind-the-scenes tour to meet SeaWorld’s enormous Pacific walruses, playful harbor seals and polar bears. Then, Dad will wiggle into a wet suit and step into 55-degree, Arctic-like water to hang […]
A Night at the Museum…Zoo or SeaWorld
Ben Stiller is hilarious but, I’m not sure I’d be up for spending a night at the museum when he’s on duty. For families looking to make amazing memories without risking ancient Egyptian curses, San Diego has cool sleepovers in unusual places like: Ahoy, matey! The San Diego Maritime Museum on San Diego Bay has family sleepovers aboard the […]

Tranquility Blooms At the Japanese Friendship Garden
The Japanese Friendship Garden provides a place of peace and contemplation in a familiar environment. There is a tremendous amount of thought behind creating and maintaining a venue of such simplicity. It is a deceptively secluded area of Balboa Park, with very little outside noise allowed in. In fact, it wasn’t until I left the garden that I was reminded of outside noises such as children and passing cars. There was a real feeling of back-to-the-real-world.
I Was Trainer For a Day At SeaWorld
What is it about dolphins and other sea creatures that make us want to get in the water with them and give them love? Whatever it is, San Diego is fortunate to have a place where we can scratch that itch. Sea World’s variety of behind-the-scenes programs each have a cost above and beyond the price of admission, but talk about making memories for the family!
Sesame Street Bay of Play at SeaWorld
When Sea World’s Happy Harbor reopened as Sesame Street Bay of Play, it was so much more than before. Sea World’s children’s play area had been transformed into an amusement park all its own within the marine park. Families can bounce, climb, swing, slide, spin and fly in this giant playground complete with kid-friendly rides and a giant jungle gym with rope bridges, nets and slides.
Tour Petco Park
What can you expect to learn on a tour of a mere baseball stadium? A lot more than I expected, as it turns out. Walking around in the Padres’ house when the Padres aren’t home really emphasizes the vastness and versatility of the structure, which could easily double as a small city complete with restaurants, parks, museums and a sandy beach.
