Summer in San Diego is always fantastic! With it being light out later in the evening we have even more time to go to the beach, jog around Fiesta Island, have a picnic dinner at a park, etc. Even the major attractions around town get in on the fun by staying open later, featuring new and different shows – and don’t forget the summer fireworks!

Catch Olympic Excitement In San Diego
Today marks the official start of the London 2012 Olympic Games with an opening ceremony full of dazzling sights and sounds (and I hear James Bond and Harry Potter might make an appearance). While most of us can’t make it to London, you can still catch the Olympic excitement in San Diego. Catch a family-friendly viewing of the opening ceremony along the water, or see where 80 Team USA Olympians trained (which amounts to about 1 in 5 of the US Olympic athletes trained in San Diego!) at the Olympic Training Center.
Summer Styles for San Diego and Where to Find Them
Summer is a time to let your hair down and start enjoying the glorious weather! During the months of June-August San Diego is known for an average high of 76 degrees and a low of 65 degrees. What does this mean when it comes to defining San Diego style? I like to call it California-Laid-Back-Chic!
Basically, our city is an active one, so styles need to be comfy yet chic. We are casual but do dress up when the occasion permits. Make sure to pack lightweight cotton and silk clothing, jeans, t-shirts, shorts and summer-type dresses for the warm days and a either a fitted jacket or a lightweight sweater for the cool evenings. During the day, always have handy your “sunnies” (sunglasses) and a cool hat like a Fedora.
There are many boutiques located throughout the quaint neighborhoods of San Diego offering great summer fashion and after the break are just a few of my favorites.

Every year, locals and visitors alike flock to the seaside racetrack to soak up the first day of racing action, not to mention gawk at all the elaborate hats on display, and this year’s Opening Day was no exception.
