Wild about Wildflowers in San Diego’s East County!
April showers bring May flowers, the ol’ saying goes…
But in San Diego, it’s the winter rains that bring vibrant, colorful springtime floral displays throughout our East County region. From charming mountain daffodils and wildflowers in Julian to a surprisingly verdant transformation of the Anza-Borrego Desert, visitors are in for a fab floral, photo-worthy treat! (say that five times fast 😉 )
A Whole New View of Balboa Park with Snap Photo Tours
I’ve been to Balboa Park countless times; visiting the museums, going on field trips with my kids, or simply enjoying the gardens. I thought I had seen it all…that is until I signed us up for a photo tour of Balboa Park.
We went with Snap Photo Tours, who specializes in photo tours of some of San Diego’s best sights including: Balboa Park, Coronado, and the Gaslamp Quarter. Their guides are just as much experts behind the camera as they are on the tours themselves.
Seeing Stars: San Diego in the Movies
As everyone’s eyes are on Hollywood this weekend for the Academy Awards, why not live the movies you love and explore some of San Diego’s famous locales. Everyone knows that Ron Burgundy calls San Diego his home, but the Anchorman isn’t the only famous face to film in San Diego.

Ghost Hunting in San Diego’s Coronado and Old Town!
“I ain’t afraid of no ghost!” No really, I’m not. I’m absolutely thrilled by the possibility of encountering a spirit from the beyond. Two places in particular that put San Diego on the map as a specter-friendly destination: the famous Hotel del Coronado and the Whaley House.
Julian Ripe and Ready for Apple Days!
Visitors and locals alike are gearing up for a San Diego tradition as “American as apple pie” – Julian Apple Days, happening this weekend October 6-7!
A Midnight Stroll through San Diego’s Old Town
I am in Old Town at midnight. I am not surprised. While it is a place, without question, built for tourists, I balk at the suggestion that ‘locals don’t go there’ and such ‘traps’ should be avoided by those looking for an ‘authentic’ experience.
For me, there is nothing more authentic and alluring than the post-structuralist break-down of real and pretend. Old Town is a piece of living theater staged on the actual blood, sweat and bones of San Diego’s history. The lines between reality and mythology blur amongst historical landmarks and themed restaurants, dusty graveyards and costumed guides.
