W San Diego Completes $5 Million Dollar Revamp
The W San Diego hotel located in Downtown San Diego has recently completed a $5 million renovation. Changes included updates to its lounges, signature restaurant, rooftop bar and meeting spaces. The hotel’s new restaurant named Kelvin after the temperature metric and serving Latin-influenced items with locally sourced ingredients, is led by Executive Chef Kevin Harry.
Rooftop bars are becoming synonymous with San Diego and the W’s is not to be missed. Its bar with a bonfire theme and now has a “playful sculpture” of stacked beach chairs and five private cabanas. Additionally, the meeting rooms have all been expanded and renovated. Just Beachy: Coronado Named #1 Beach in America!
Shhh… can you keep a secret? I almost couldn’t. I’ve known for weeks that postcard-perfect Coronado Beach was going to be crowned America’s Best Beach by “Dr. Beach.” However, I couldn’t tell a soul. I promised coastal expert Stephen Leatherman (aka Dr. Beach), that mums the word until May 25.
And today’s the day! I’m shouting it from the highest sand dunes on the island that Coronado is the #1 stretch of sand in the United States!
5 of San Diego’s Top Tots: Best Restaurants for Tater Tots
Maybe it’s the crispy crunch of the golden brown crust. Maybe it’s the warm, fluffy comfort of the soft potato interior. Or maybe it’s that each bite transports you back to a simpler time, when Saturday morning cartoons and the contents of your lunchbox were the only troubles that weighed on your mind. Whatever the reason, the appeal of the charmingly nostalgic tater tot can’t be denied.
Satisfy your inner schoolboy (or girl!) with tasty tots from one of these top 5 San Diego spots (in no particular order) after the break.
Attraction Action: LEGOLAND Unveils Expanded Star Wars Miniland Area
My nine year-old son is bursting with excitement with the news that LEGOLAND California just unveiled an expanded Star Wars Miniland area. We’ve been to this area so many times I can name all of the scenes, and that’s saying a lot. My personal favorite is the Ewok Village.
Delighted Star Wars fans can expect to see the giant Jawa sandcrawler, featured in Star Wars: Episode IV A New Hope, made up of more than 15,000 LEGO bricks and weighing in at more than 50 pounds. Other new LEGO models being introduced include: the ion cannon in the Rebel base on the planet Hoth; a towering Crystal City building in Christophsis and the giant opee sea killer on Naboo.
