So here’s an idea, escape to San Diego sometime in the next few days and enjoy one of these great things to do this weekend…
Mangia, Mangia! World Pasta Day in San Diego!
My love for Italian food started early since I come from an Irish-Italian family and most of our dinners growing up either consisted of meat and potatoes or pasta. Today, my pantry always has a few boxes of pasta ready for the impromptu dinner or a date night at home with what I call Shalene’s Pesto Pasta (comment below if you want the recipe). However, sometimes my wife and I don’t feel like cooking and instead head on out for a delicious plate of pasta…made by someone else. 🙂
Since today is World Pasta Day, I wanted to share my three go to San Diego Italian restaurants for some pasta whether it be a romantic dinner, a family night out or a quick grab to eat while on the go.
Fresh Food Daily at San Diego Farmers Markets
San Diego may be a laid-back town, but we take our food very seriously. With a diverse landscape and mild temperatures, San Diego County boasts ideal conditions for farming, so it’s no surprise that the county is home to more than 6,000 small and family-owned farms. These farmers provide chefs from local restaurants with access to the freshest possible ingredients, but you don’t have to pull up a seat at a restaurant to enjoy some of San Diego’s local bounty.
Happy 25th Anniversary to Café Sevilla in San Diego!
25 years after putting down roots in San Diego’s Gaslamp Quarter, Café Sevilla still pleases patrons with a vast selection of authentic Spanish tapas and the longest running Flamenco Dinner show in Southern California.
Stop in for famous sangria and tapas at the ever-popular happy hour – held every day from opening until 7:00 PM, or treat yourself to a Flamenco Dinner Show. Either way, now is a great time to see why Café Sevilla has maintained a lively and festive presence in the Gaslamp Quarter for a 25 years. And as they continue to celebrate their anniversary with a host of special events through October, make sure to check out the last two spectacular events after the break.
Trick or Treating in San Diego, the Grown-Up Version
As little ghosts and goblins come out to play and traipse from house to house in their sugar-fueled quest on October 31, it’s hard for the grown-ups not to feel just a little bit envious. Just because we’ve grown older doesn’t mean we have outgrown our sweet tooths (well, some of us, anyway)!
If you’re looking for a little sweet indulgence this Halloween, fear not – San Diego offers some diabolically delicious holiday treats sure to delight those too old for trick or treating.
Appetites Delight: Taste of Downtown San Diego
The time has come to treat your taste buds. On October 11, 2012 over 50 restaurants in Downtown San Diego will open their doors for the Annual Taste of Downtown. For around the same price as dinner at one restaurant the Taste of Downtown supplies a smorgasbord of samples in the largest neighborhood tasting event in San Diego; including the East Village, Gaslamp Quarter, Financial District and Horton Plaza. Ticket price even includes complimentary shuttle service between neighborhoods to make sure you are able to hit all participating restaurants at your own pace.
Kids Eat Free in San Diego this October
Let’s face it: family vacations can be costly. By the time you get to where you’re going, you still have to pay for hotel rooms, tickets to all the fun theme parks and attractions. Add on three meals a day for you and your kids, and you’ve totalled up quite a bill.
Fortunately, thanks to Kids Free San Diego in October, more than 40 San Diego area hotels are offering free dining for kids at their properties. Along with the hotel dining options, kids can enjoy a free meal at these local restaurants too, ensuring that you can enjoy your vacation and still have money left for Christmas.
Restaurant Week Meets National Cheeseburger Day
What do you get when you combine San Diego Restaurant Week, a 6-day celebration of dining deals, with National Cheeseburger Day? One great excuse to go out and enjoy a burger in San Diego!
Where to Grab Some Grub and Beer Before the Chargers Game
Fall is almost upon us and it begs the question: are you ready for some football? I know I am ready for Sundays and Mondays (and now Thursdays) full of excitement; cheers and jeers; and good friends accompanied with plenty of food and San Diego craft beer. Planning on heading to a Chargers or Aztec […]
Savor San Diego Restaurant Week at Flavor Del Mar
San Diego Restaurant Week officially kicks off Sunday, September 16th and runs through the 21st and this year is better than ever with over 180 restaurants participating. With so many to choose from, it’s hard to pick just one, so I’ve decided to try several! One I’m most excited to try has it all: great food, great service and a great view – Flavor Del Mar.
