Every year, the Mainly Mozart Festival presents “all-star” orchestras performing works by the masters – Mozart, the Bach boys, and others – from the Baroque, Classical and Romantic canons.
In Case You Need Reasons to Road Trip
Last weekend, the Los Angeles Times and the Orange County Register both ran stories that will get you itching to hit the road. The Times wrote about seeking out great craft beer and specifically highlighted brewery tours in San Diego. The Register did a “choose your own” adventure story featuring everything from the Loews Surf Dog Competition to Fleet Week with a […]

The San Diego County Fair opens on Friday June 12th and runs through through July 5th. I’ve been going to the fair since I was a kid, but now that I’m a little older there are two things that get me out to the Del Mar Fairgrounds: food & concerts. This year the fair has […]

Tranquility Blooms At the Japanese Friendship Garden
The Japanese Friendship Garden provides a place of peace and contemplation in a familiar environment. There is a tremendous amount of thought behind creating and maintaining a venue of such simplicity. It is a deceptively secluded area of Balboa Park, with very little outside noise allowed in. In fact, it wasn’t until I left the garden that I was reminded of outside noises such as children and passing cars. There was a real feeling of back-to-the-real-world.
I Was Trainer For a Day At SeaWorld
What is it about dolphins and other sea creatures that make us want to get in the water with them and give them love? Whatever it is, San Diego is fortunate to have a place where we can scratch that itch. Sea World’s variety of behind-the-scenes programs each have a cost above and beyond the price of admission, but talk about making memories for the family!
Tour Petco Park
What can you expect to learn on a tour of a mere baseball stadium? A lot more than I expected, as it turns out. Walking around in the Padres’ house when the Padres aren’t home really emphasizes the vastness and versatility of the structure, which could easily double as a small city complete with restaurants, parks, museums and a sandy beach.
