I am excited to report that Mog & Rue, a California-Chic boutique located in the quaint beach community of Encinitas, has just recently been acquired by a new owner, Christianna Ablahad. Christianna is a well known fashion and beauty writer in San Diego and New York. Recently, the boutique celebrated the new ownership in style with a little soirée featuring some of the new fashions that Christianna will be carrying. The boutique will feature regular “shopping happy hours,” carry more independent designers and continue the personalized service for every customer. Mog & Rue is named for the British slang …

My ideal shopping day is being able to park and step outside to an array of unique shopping choices. San Diego has many chic shopping streets and these are just a few of my fav’s!
Mission Hills
The 1600 block of West Lewis Street and the 900 block of Fort Stockton Dr. are located in the quaint neighborhood of Mission Hills. Whether you are shopping for cards, home goods, women’s fashions, jewelry, accessories, or salon services, the following will accomplish it all: “With Love” Boutique (gifts, books and paperie), LeBelAge Boutique (women’s fashions, jewelry and accessories), Salon Bella (Rock Star …
San Diego is abuzz with a variety of fashion outings! Just this month, Nordstrom at Fashion Valley showcased a Spring/Summer Trunk Show featuring the designs from Celine. After a delicious lunch accompanied with a strolling fashion show they proceeded with having live models stand as mannequins catching every shopper’s attention! Celine showcased beautifully tailored relaxed yet uptown-smart pieces that could be worn just about anywhere around San Diego. Some of my favorite pieces included the black & white ensembles, the pop-of-color Maxi and the wood platform shoes. Nordstrom is always spot on!…
I am excited to report on some new boutique openings throughout San Diego!
Starting with dolcetti boutique located downtown at 635 Fifth Ave. This boutique offers many urban-polished pieces for both women and men. The options are endless for ultra-fresh fashions from day to evening looks. In addition to clothing and accessories they operate, within their boutique, their own salon called A Style Concierge. You can shop while getting your hair and make-up done!
Right down the block is Eden Boutique located at 520 Fifth Ave. Visually, Eden is very easy to navigate through. They specialize in up-and-coming designers at …
San Diego has an array of unique boutiques located throughout the different neighborhoods of the city. In most cases Haute would define the upper class but in this case it purely defines the effortless chic fashions of San Diego and just a glimmer of what the city has to offer.
Downtown has Goga Boutique located at 401 Market Street, showcasing Gordana Gehlhausen’s clothing and jewelry designs. Gordana was featured on the 6th season of the reality show “Project Runway.” Not only does she create one-of-a-kind pieces (check out her gowns!) but she also carries other lines that have an edgy-elegant …
Move over coffee shops, because San Diego’s tea times offer a welcome break from the usual afternoon pick-me-up. What better complement to the spring flowers cropping up around the county than a nice cup of tea? If you’re in need of recharging, head to one of these charming tea spots for a relaxing respite.
Urban Tea at Café Chloe
The elegant yet relaxed French bistro in San Diego’s East Village offers a tea service to die for, including a selection of sandwiches, housemade cakes, cookies & sweets. The $29 per person service includes a pot of gourmet tea, or a …
I recently had the opportunity to sit down and interview the amazing Ken Downing, Senior Vice President & Fashion Director of all Neiman Marcus stores, on defining the fashion of San Diego. I then proceeded to watch his pure talent of the styling for the Spring Trends 2011 for Neiman Marcus. What a genuine inspirational fashion guru. Loved him!
With having 1/3 of all visitors to San Diego include shopping on their activity list, how do you see San Diego with regards to accessibility to fashion choices?
Very accessible, I cater to the women who love fashion no matter where …
When it comes to fashion, San Diego is known mainly for a relaxed sort of coolness factor. The looks vary from sporty-chic to downtown-diva to boho-chic to urban vibe depending on the activity you choose. We feature many unique shopping opportunities right here in our own backyard. With the THREAD Show, heading our way on Sunday, April 3, at Horton Plaza from noon - 6:00 pm, San Diego will once again be showcasing 100 of the best independent designers alongside music, art, food and a fashion show.
In March, I had the opportunity to attend a similar event sponsored by NBC …
