I am excited to report that Mog & Rue, a California-Chic boutique located in the quaint beach community of Encinitas, has just recently been acquired by a new owner, Christianna Ablahad. Christianna is a well known fashion and beauty writer in San Diego and New York. Recently, the boutique celebrated the new ownership in style with a little soirée featuring some of the new fashions that Christianna will be carrying. San Diego is abuzz with a variety of fashion outings! Just this month, Nordstrom at Fashion Valley showcased a Spring/Summer Trunk Show featuring the designs from Celine. After a delicious lunch accompanied with a strolling fashion show they proceeded with having live models stand as mannequins catching every shopper’s attention! Celine showcased beautifully tailored relaxed yet uptown-smart pieces that could be worn just about anywhere around San Diego. I recently had the opportunity to sit down and interview the amazing Ken Downing, Senior Vice President & Fashion Director of all Neiman Marcus stores, on defining the fashion of San Diego. I then proceeded to watch his pure talent of the styling for the Spring Trends 2011 for Neiman Marcus. What a genuine inspirational fashion guru. Loved him!

When it comes to fashion, San Diego is known mainly for a relaxed sort of coolness factor. The looks vary from sporty-chic to downtown-diva to boho-chic to urban vibe depending on the activity you choose. We feature many unique shopping opportunities right here in our own backyard. With the THREAD Show, heading our way on Sunday, April 3, at Horton Plaza from noon - 6:00 pm, San Diego will once again be showcasing 100 of the best independent designers alongside music, art, food and a fashion show.
