I recently had the pleasure to sit down and interview the oh-so-talented, Edward Wilkerson, Design Director of the brand, Lafayette 148. The interview took place after the fabulous showing of his 2012 Spring Collection. We discussed the fashions of San Diego as well as some of his favorite spots in San Diego to visit. The 2012 Spring Collection was featured at Neiman Marcus, located at Fashion Valley Shopping Center, and definitely put me in pure vacation-mode!
May Festivals that Celebrate San Diego’s Ethnic Diversity
Any time is right for celebrating San Diego’s ethnic diversity. But May presents us with a triptych – a chance to join the city’s Mexican, Italian and Portuguese communities as they celebrate their heritage.
5 to Try This Weekend in San Diego
Cinco de Mayo in San Diego doesn’t get any better…and on a weekend? Fabulous! After the break are my 5 to Try for this weekend. What will you be doing?
Enjoy a Half-Day Saltwater Fishing Trip in San Diego
Seeing a 30- to 50-pound white seabass, or better yet, catching one like that, is part of the adventure of taking a half-day sportfishing trip out of Point Loma or Mission Bay. You never know what will tug the end of the line. And springtime means topwater time, the start of surface action for calico bass, barracuda and bonito or maybe a trophy yellowtail or white seabass.
The TOTEM Spaceship Has Landed in San Diego!
TOTEM is a “fascinating journey into the evolution of mankind” told through a woven tapestry of multi-cultural mythology and overarching symbols. Learn more after the break and get your tickets now!
Nightlife San Diego – Rooftop Lounges in the Gaslamp Quarter
As I write this blog post I am in the process of planning my evening’s itinerary and have decided that tonight is a rooftop night. Not only does San Diego’s great climate allow for fantastic beach days, tons of water sports and plenty of outdoorsy activities, it also allows locals and visitors alike to enjoy the nightlife outside as well!
Rooftop bars, lounges and nightclubs abound in San Diego – where revelers often relax in front of fire pits, listening to the soft thump of lounge music and sipping on their favorite cocktails.
Many of these rooftop oases are spread throughout, though not limites to, the Gaslamp Quarter. After the break are just a few options for an evening of lounging under the stars.
Kayaking the Caves of San Diego’s La Jolla
When the sun comes out this weekend there’s only one thing in San Diego that I want to do – kayak through the caves in La Jolla! These natural wonders are quickly becoming one of the most popular attractions in San Diego as thousands of locals and visitors paddle in wonder through these “hidden gems” every week.
Old Hollywood Glamour at La Jolla’s Historic Hotels
Stroll through one San Diego’s seaside towns and villages, and you may feel like you’ve stepped back in time. Along the North County’s Coast Highway, the vintage surf culture of Encinitas might have you expecting to see the original Beach Boys stepping out of a taco shop. At Mission Beach, the red and white painted slats of Belmont Park’s wooden rollercoast call to mind a bygone era when the beach boardwalk was king. But if you’re looking for vintage glamour, head straight to La Jolla, where a collection of historic hotels will fill you with the romance of Old Hollywood.
Listen Live: “The Birth of the Cool” and Jazz in San Diego
