There is no shortage of holiday fun to be had here in town, but me — I love a parade. Standing along a street crowded with thousands of my fellow townsfolk, a small child on my shoulders, one strapped to my chest (a new take on “strapping, young man”), watching a big, colorful, musical party go by — that’s the reason for the season, you ask me. Here are three San Diego holiday parades I don’t miss.
It’s Beginning to Look a lot Like Christmas
I know, I know…We haven’t even celebrated Thanksgiving yet…but the spirit of the holidays is just so contagious!!! Especially in San Diego, where we put a sunny twist on “Seasons Greetings.” Here’s a sneak peek at the holiday events kicking-off in November (click on photos for more info):
A Star Is Reborn
Star of India, the world’s oldest active sailing ship, spent three weeks in dry dock this summer for its decennial maintenance and came back looking better than ever, just in time to celebrate her 146th birthday this Saturday, November 14. The Maritime Museum of San Diego will give her a proper birthday party complete with cake — and everyone is invited!
Veterans, It’s Your Day
Veterans Day falls on November 11, the anniversary of the Armistice of World War I — not a great battle but an achievement of peace. Each year, San Diego honors United States veterans with the San Diego County Veterans Day Parade taking place downtown on Pacific Highway beginning at 11:00 A.M. Everyone is invited to […]

Looking for something to do this weekend? Consider: Look to the sky this weekend during the MCAS Miramar Air Show at the Marine Corps Air Station Miramar. Big Weekend: Fair vs. Festival
There are two huge, 2-day events that I look forward to each year: Adams Avenue Street Fair and the Pacific Islander Festival — both taking place September 26 and 27. Unfortunately, without the wits and resources of a Brady, there’s no way for me to enjoy both days of programming.
